A rumor of a royal baby has filtered through the dragon world. Blue dragons like the queen are rare and only born every few centuries. If there is, indeed, a baby ready to be born, there is hope for the royal line, hope for the world and hope for the forces who don't want a royal successor to find the pregnant dragon before the baby is born, or to kill the baby to prevent the throne's succession. Such a move would leave the world in chaos, not only for the dragon's, but for those humans who have found themselves unwittingly a part of it. There are some who help protect the royal line, and others who wish to see it destroyed, so they can challenge the rest of the dragons for the throne. And once they've gotten the throne, they will seek to restore dragon order on the rest of the world, and put humans where they belong….on a lower link of the food chain. |

The Queen Mother of all the Dragons lies dying. She has been dying for a thousand years, but now her death is imminent. She is the last of the reigning dragons, the Blue dragons who have reigned for nearly half a million years. When she passes, she will leave no heir. Several other castes have mobilized to correct this. Several are trying to alter the caste system by putting themselves in charge. Others are interposing themselves to defend the current system. And one, one alone, has taken it upon herself to try to bear a blue. An heir to the millenia-old right to the dragon throne. The White dragons, currently out of favor, attempt to alter the balance by trying to regain the crown their dynasty lost all those long years ago. Their mission: Find the new Blue and kill him. |

Dragons are addicted to order. Many of them work in positions of law-enforcement, politics, firefighting, physics, and so forth. They like any job where they can play a part in keeping the forces of entropy at bay and thus free themselves from the threat of chaos and disorganization. Even the most evil and self-serving of dragons lives to this end. If anything threatens the order the dragons have created, every dragon will feel it. Without a ruler, every single dragon stops what they are doing, dedicating themselves to the restoration of a royal line. But there is one dragon, one who separated himself from the others many years ago to live life as a man. He is the Black Fire, and his is the responsibility to lead the others to order and a new monarch. If only he lives long enough to take it. |
